The story of Landakot is told in a new exhibition. The house was built in 1897 as the first catholic church since reformation. In 1930 it became a sportshall and remained as such until recently when it was relocated to the musuem.

Þing og Þjóðfundur

Þegar hið endurreista Alþingi Íslendinga tók til starfa sumarið 1845 var aðeins eitt hús í bænum sem gat rúmað starfsemi þess, en það var hið mikla hús Lærða skólans sem þá var í smíðum við Lækinn. Þar fór þinghaldið fram annað hvert sumar, allt til ársins 1879, alls 18 þing, eitt þeirra var Þjóðfundurinn sem haldinn var 1851. Jón Sigurðsson sat öll þingin nema fjögur.
