Celebrate Sovereign Day at the Árbær Open Air Museum! Iceland marks its Sovereign Day on December 1st, and Árbær Open Air Museum and various esteemed Icelandic culture associations invite you to join the festivities at 18:00-22:00! Admission is free, and everyone is welcome! Experience a vibrant showcase of Icelandic culture with traditional dances, handicrafts, accordion music, poetry, national costumes, folk songs, and live demonstrations of our rich heritage. Micro-courses and presentations will also be offered for those eager to learn more. Dillon's House Café will be open and serving delicious refreshments. Dress the part! Guests are encouraged to wear national costumes to enhance the festive atmosphere. Accessibility: The museum’s footpaths are mainly gravel. Many historic houses have steps and thresholds. Service dogs are welcome. Public Transport: Nearest bus stop: Árbæjarsafn (1-minute walk). Other stops: Laxakvísl and Fagribær (5–6 minutes away). Free parking, including blue-badge parking spots opposite the entrance, is available.
