Guided Tour in Sign Language - Half a Century Through the Lens

Reykjavík Museum of Photography invites you to a guided tour in Icelandic Sign Language of Gunnar V. Andrésson’s exhibition “Half a Century Through the Lens” at 14:00. The tour will be led by Sigurlín Margrét Sigurðardóttir, a sign language guide. The guided tour is free of charge, and everyone who uses sign language is warmly welcome! The exhibition “Half a Century Through the Lens” spans over 50 years of Gunnar V. Andrésson’s career as a photojournalist (1966–2018). His photographs, published in newspapers such as Tíminn, Vísir, DV, and Fréttablaðið, are invaluable records of Icelandic life. The display takes visitors on a journey through time, showcasing images that capture the spirit of each era and the social changes that shaped Icelandic society. Gunnar is portrayed as a true companion to the people he photographed—whether in moments of joy or sorrow. Highlights include portraits of former Icelandic presidents Vigdís Finnbogadóttir and Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson, spanning nearly four decades, adding historical depth and nuance to the collection. The exhibition runs until December 7.

The Reykjavík Museum of Photography is accessible, and guide dogs are welcome. Public transport: The nearest bus stops are Hafnarhús, Lækjartorg, and Ráðhúsið (2–5 minutes walking distance).
