Families encouraged to enjoy outdoor activities in Árbær Open Air Museum and Viðey Island
Reykjavík City Museum encourages families to enjoy outdoor activities in beautiful Árbær Open Air Museum and Viðey Island during the fall break and check out the museum houses, artworks and nature.
In connection with the fall break, Árbær Open Air Museum has set up a fun game in the museum area. The goal of the game is to find 8 notes in 6 houses. The notes have fun historical facts about Iceland. Have you read all the 8 notes? Well then we have some questions for you here and also on our Facebook page. Please note that both texts and questions are in Icelandic.

This weekend we recommend taking the boat to Viðey Island from Skarfabakki. It sails three times a day on Saturdays and Sundays at 13:15, 14:15 and 15:15. Just remember, the last boat ride back leaves Viðey Island at 16.30. Viðey Island is a great place to spend time outside, and there are, of course, toilets available.
It is worth mentioning that here on the Reykjavík City Museum website you can find many interesting and fun videos which you can watch during the fall break.
Please note that the museums themselves; Árbær Open Air Museum, The Settlement Exhibition, Reykjavík Museum of Photography and Reykjavík Maritime Museum are closed due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Enjoy the fall break and we welcome you to Árbær Open Air Museum and Viðey Island!
