Family fun on Museum Day - Free admission!

We welcome visitors to the Reykjavík Maritime Museum on Museum Day. Free admission!

My Ocean Floor A sustainability-themed craft workshop on the 2nd floor, in the space called Hornsílið in Icelandic. Everyone is welcome to join and create their own ocean floor! The theme is the seafloor around Iceland, home to various marine life such as starfish, crabs, and other bottom-dwelling creatures. These animals are an essential part of the food chain for many fish species, including cod. The seafloor is also home to diverse seaweed life, including large kelp. Sometimes it's rocky, and other times it's soft and sandy. Using all available materials, you can craft your own version of the ocean floor in the workshop. Will yours have a soft, sandy bottom, a starfish cut from a magazine, or maybe a hidden treasure? What does your ocean floor look like? What creatures live there? Family Game for the "Fish & Folk" Exhibition A light and fun game that the whole family can enjoy together while exploring the exhibition. Three difficulty levels are available: the easiest level is suitable for preschool children, while the other two are aimed at primary school age. All day – Board games and colouring corner Drop into the Pier Room on the ground floor to play board games available throughout the day. There will also be a colouring corner with paper and colouring books for children of all ages. Free admission for all to celebrate the Museum Day! Pop-up Free Boutique At the other end of the room, a pop-up "free shop" will offer clothes, books, and plant clippings for those interested in reusing and recycling. Free admission on the occasion of Museum Day, and everyone is welcome!
