Evening Walk in Icelandic│Hlíðarnar, history and city planning

Evening Walk in Icelandic│Hlíðarnar, history and city planning

Join us for a free evening city walk on Thursday, July 4. The guide will speak Icelandic.

Drífa Kristín Þrastardóttir, project manager of house conservation at the Reykjavík City Museum, will lead the walk starting from Kjarvalsstaðir (Reykjavík Art Museum). The walk is free of charge. We will walk south of Miklubraut and through the southern part of Hlíðahverfi. Along the way, we will stop at selected places where Drífa will share insights into the history and development of residential areas in the region. You can expect to learn about old farms, both vanished and existing, and gain an understanding of the area from before city planning, as well as the history and development of planned settlements in the neighbourhood around and after the middle of the 20th century.
