Welcome to a Porridge Workshop at The Settlement Exhibition, Aðalstræti 16. During the workshop, Björk will explore the history of oats, discuss how oats have found their way into folklore and traditional stories, and explain the many uses of the plant, both as a food source and in herbal medicine. She will then prepare three different porridges: a simple oatmeal porridge, a festive porridge, and a barley porridge, all of which participants will have the opportunity to taste. Everyone will receive recipes to take home. Please note that gluten-free oats will be used, and oat milk will be available for those who prefer it over cow’s milk. If you have any allergies, please indicate them when registering for the course. The workshop is suitable for participants aged five and up. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. This event is part of European Heritage Days 2026. Accessibility in Aðalstræti is good. Please note, however, that lighting is limited inside the exhibition hall by the ruins and the floor is uneven. Assistance dogs are welcome in the museum. Public transport: The nearest bus stops are MR and Ráðhúsið (a 2–5 minute walk).
