In mid November 2008 one of the largest protest occurred in Iceland. Photographer Karl R. Lilliendahl stood in front of the parliament and took photographs of the people who had gathered to protest. In his photos you can see how multifarious group came together and had only one thing in common, they were unhappy about the situation in the society.

"For me it was the hope that got people to come together. Hope that the protest would change the way of thinking in this nation that forms this country. People remained in the cold. Nobody knew what was going to happen. The people wanted the old values which had been set aside."

When I looked at these photos, sentences from the testament of Solomon in the Bible came to my mind, where words like wisdom, justice, discipline and righteous are written. I thought many of these sentences were relevant in the atmosphere in Austurvöllur Saturday 15th of November.

Karl R. Lilliendahl is born in 1972. He works as a photographer, cameraman and television production.
