The photograph is a medium which enables artists to approach and explore their subjects in an intimate way. That is how Vignisson utilises it. To him, the photograph is a temporary research of a subject which takes end and is the result of it. 

Frequently the choice of a subject has a personal and emotional value for him – his closest environment. In the exhibition "The Unsaid", Vignisson explores his relationship with his grandfather in his oasis. The unsaid is the subject - the atmosphere, which doesn´t have clear words. Background and intimacy that viewers can sense through a window. The intimacy is never on the surface, it is the elephant in the room. The unsaid often takes the largest space.

Atmosphere which is still common in viewers own environment, both nature and people that directly influence us. Vignisson seeks to grasp the atmosphere that he personally connects to a place and people. One that gives this particular place a hidden but simultaneosly clear activity.  

Óskar Kristinn Vignisson (b. 1989) finished a BFA degree from the Iceland Academy of the Arts in 2014. He has participated in various group exhibitions. e.g.  Boom Bang II at Contemporary Art Northampton, England in 2015, Become at the Living Art Museum, Reykjavík in 2012, Contemporary Landscape at the Reykjavík Museum of Photography in 2013. Vignisson has also increasingly worked in cinematography since his graduation and is currently pursuing graduate studies in the field.
