Reykjavík´s bus stops have a certain role. They are supposed to guide the users of public transport and providing them shelter while waiting for their ride. Although their role seems simple their structure is not.  It has changed a lot since they were built more than fifty years ago. They are also a symbol, which mirrors Icelandic society; the development from utilitarian idea to marketing.



The exhibition “Bus stops” sheds light on the subject itself; its architecture and form, that we all know and have used but still hasn’t been analyzed in detail before.

Sigurdur Gunnarsson (b. 1978) lives in Reykjavík. “Bus Stop” is his fifth exhibition.
