Reykjavík Museum of Photography

In exhibition Wild Cats, artist Sunna Ben shows only a fragment of her ever growing photography collection. Sunna has carried a camera with her, all days and all nights, for seven years straight. In that time she has had all sorts of adventures, in which she says she´s had the luck to capture quite successfully in photographs.

As Sunna says the photos are among her favourites. They´ve been received quite well in group exhibitions, in books and magazines, and widely on the Internet. Therefore they´re well suited to be shown officially in a solo exhibition in Skotið at the Reykjavik Museum of Photography.


Sunna says: If it would be feasible I would show the whole collection but it´s impossible for various of reasons. Instead I´ve chosen photos, which I think are most impressive, which I care most about, which I find most funny and hope that they look good together.

“There is really no special theme in the exhibition to be pinpointed, but there is dash of fun and sarcastic melancholia – that seems to be what attracts me.“

Sunna Ben Guðrúnardóttir, lives and works in Reykjavík. She finished a BA from Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam, Holland in 2012. Most of the pictures are taken in Iceland and in Amsterdam on automatic 35mm film cameras, most on Yashica T4 Super, Leica Z2X, Canon Prima and on many cheap cameras, which were used occasionally.
