Mogens brings together the enchanting landscape, the inhabitants and the harsh environment in his photographs, which give a full and realistic view on the country itself.

He prints his images using traditional methods, on silver-gelatine fibre paper, and treats it with selen-toner and dries it with the correct method. Quality is very important for Mogens. His photographs must last and if possible become more beautiful with time; and he does not depart from this principle in the photographs shown here. 

For more than forty years Mogens S. Koch has been dedicated to photographic documentation and preservation of photographs. He was one of the founders of the School of Conservation at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, which started by focussing on photographic documentation, and subsequently, added conservation of photographs. Over the past 25 years Mogens Koch has played a leading role in the field in international arena. 

Alongside his teaching career, Mogens photographed the works of many of Denmark´s leading architects and craftsmen. The photographer has also taken many series of photographs around the world, e.g. in Denmark, Ethiopia, Hong Kong, the religious movement “Shakers” in the United States. For many years Mogens has also been active internationally, and in 2003 he was awarded the Deutsche Gesellshaft für Photographie (DGPh) Cultural Award in Berlin, together with the renowned director/photographer Wim Wenders.
