Reykjavík Museum of Photography

The word “movement” can be interpreted in photography in many ways — for example, by freezing motion in an image, following movement with the camera, or capturing various “movements” within society, such as the labor movement or protest movements.

There will be a total of seven exhibitions, each with a different theme. Forty-six photographers will participate, and each exhibition will run for six weeks. Members were invited to take part in a survey where they could indicate which themes they would like to see featured. The following themes received the most votes:

- **Movement** 9 January – 22 February

- **Landscape** 7 February – 12 April

- **Winter scenes**  17 April – 31 May

- **Abstract** 5. June – 19 July

- **Street scenes**  24 July – 13 September

- **B/W** 18 September – 1 November

- **Water** 6 November – 31 December


Many of the members participating in these exhibitions have been part of the association for a long time, while others are taking their first steps in exhibiting their work. A passion for photography is the foundation of the group. Quite a few members have pursued photography education through courses both in Iceland and abroad. Some members are students at the Iceland School of Photography, while others are fully qualified photographers from the Technical College.

Fókus is an association of amateur photographers in the Reykjavík area, founded in 1999. It provides an excellent platform for people who want to develop their photography skills and talents.
