Reykjavík Museum of Photography

In the last 15 years the Norwegian artist Nils Olav Bøe has been working on photographing small scale miniature scenes he has created in his studio. In addition, he creates video and sound installations, where part of the photo is the script for the film . 

In the series Constructed sites Bøe picks commentary from international press photos – from political or social events around the world. He uses them as a starting point to create a three-dimensional staging in miniature of characters and objects in small scale in the studio.



He cleans and reorganizes an image where he wants it . Then he illuminates and photographs the scene. Usually, the result deviates much from the outset, but at the same time he tries to keep the atmosphere and tracks from the event from the press photo.

Nils Olav Bøe grew up in the Sognefjord area, but lives and works in Oslo. His works have been exhibited widely, e.g. Berlin , New York and in London and have been purchased by museums and private collections.
