Fox and Geese (or Lambs), also known as Halatafl or Refskák, is an ancient board game most likely originating in Scandinavia. It developed from other board games that were highly popular during the Middle Ages. The game consists of one fox and thirteen lambs (or geese). The fox tries to eat the lambs, while the lambs attempt to surround the fox so that it cannot move and is therefore defeated. The game is mentioned in Grettir’s Saga. Accessibility is good in Aðalstræti. Please note that lighting is limited inside the exhibition hall by the ruins, and the floor there is uneven. Assistance dogs are welcome in the museum. Public transport: The nearest bus stops are MR and Ráðhúsið (2–5 minutes’ walk).
