Guided tour in Icelandic about the history of Reykjavík
On Museum Night, guests who visit Aðalstræti 10 and 16, the actual historic centre, will be led through Reykjavík's adventurous and complex history from the settlement to the present. Admission is free, and everyone is welcome. Please note that the guided tour will be in Icelandic.
The tour begins at The Settlement Exhibition, where guests can see the ruins of a Viking long house from the 10th century, which was found in 2001. In May 2022, the exhibition area was expanded underground from The Settlement Exhibition to the oldest house in the centre in Aðalstræti 10. Jump on board the time machine with us, and we promise that you will become much wiser about the history of Reykjavík. Accessibility: The museum has good access for people with disabilities. However, the exhibition is dimly lit, and the floor is uneven in several places. Guide dogs are welcome. ♿
