Opening I Winter Scenes

Opening I Winter Scenes

Welcome to the opening of the exhibition "Winter Scenes“ at the Reykjavík Museum of Photography 17 April at 16:00-18:00. Light refreshments will be served. Free entry! “Winter Scenes” opens at SKOTIÐ in 2026 — the third in a year long series of exhibitions by FÓKUS, the Amateur Photography Club. There was little snow in Iceland during the first months of the year. That changed, however, as March progressed: avalanches began to fall and transportation across the country was widely disrupted. But snow also brings with it many forms of beauty, not least in the frost, which delights photographers. This exhibition reveals that beauty, as snow lays its graceful veil across the landscape, creates all kinds of mysterious shapes and together with the frost, summons strange creatures and forms along rivers and lakes. Photographers: • Hallfríður Ingimundardóttir • Helga Gréta Ingimundardóttir • Hrafnhildur L. Hafsteinsdóttir • Íris Reynisdóttir • Jón Stefánsson • Þórður Kr Jóhannesson

Seven exhibitions. Forty-seven photographers. One year of creativity. Follow along as we celebrate the passion and talent within Iceland’s amateur photography community. Access for people with disabilities is good. Service dogs are welcome at the museum. Public transport: The nearest bus stops are called Hafnarhús, Lækjartorg, Ráðhúsið (2–5 min. away).
