Exhibition Talk in Icelandic for young neurodivergent people

Young neurodivergent people are especially welcome to join an Exhibition Talk in Icelandic with Eva Ágústa, the photographer behind "Queer and Autistic", on Sunday, 24 October, at 14:00. Free admission.

The exhibition "Queer and Autistic" features a collection of photographs of queer individuals on the autism spectrum, with or without an official diagnosis. Eva Ágústa, the photographer, is herself trans and on the autism spectrum. For the past few years, she has focused on telling people's stories from her unique perspective. Having observed how non-autistic people behave in society from a young age, she has tried to change her behaviour to fit in better. Today, she uses her unconventional perception to her advantage in photography. The exhibition aims to make these two groups more visible since they are often overlooked and become invisible. Eva worked by getting to know her subjects personally before photographing them in their most comfortable environments. She uses a blend of natural and additional light to capture the image she envisions, with the individuals agreeing on the final result. Eva studied photography at Reykjavík Technical College in 2009 and passed her apprentice exam in the fall of 2011. After a short break, she rediscovered her passion and has recently worked on various projects that tell people's stories. This exhibition is accessible to a neurodiverse audience and is proudly sponsored by Einhverfusamtökin (The Icelandic Autistic Society).
